Spam Monitor Features

Spam Monitor is an easy-to-use spam filter that detects and isolates unsolicited junk mail sent to your mailbox.

Features

Spam Monitor's main features include the following:

  • An enhanced Graphical User Interface (GUI)

Spam Monitor's GUI is now more intuitive and consistent with other PC Tools products. The main functional improvements include simplified layouts for Friends and Block lists, including Whitelists and Blacklists, and an enhanced Settings section with clearly defined options.

  • A wizard that automatically configures your email clients to use Spam Monitor

Spam Monitor's Configuration wizard sets up a range of email client applications to work with Spam Monitor automatically. The Configuration wizard currently supports the following email clients: Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express and Eudora.

  • Supports most popular email clients

Spam Monitor is designed to work with a range of popular email clients, including all recent versions of Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Mozilla Mail and Eudora.

  • An enhanced Smart Update tool to update any component of Spam Monitor automatically

A new Smart Update tool has been incorporated into Spam Monitor, which allows it to update any product component to obtain the latest, enhanced functionality. This also includes updates to blocking filters and plug-ins.

  • Adaptive Bayesian filtering technology

Using the Bayesian Filter, Spam Monitor can be trained to identify spam email messages. The Bayesian Filter identifies spam messages with increasing precision when it is exposed to a greater number and range of spam emails.

  • Microsoft Outlook plug-in

The Microsoft Outlook plug-in integrates Spam Monitor's functionality into the Outlook mail client program.

  • Supports connection to unlimited POP3 or IMAP4 servers and mailboxes

Spam Monitor can be set to monitor for spam email messages from multiple email accounts, and supports both POP3 and IMAP4 email access protocols.

  • Automatically white-list email addresses or servers from which you receive frequent correspondence

The Automatic Friends List feature of Spam Monitor can be configured to automatically white-list email or IP addresses from which you receive emails on a frequent basis. White-listed email and IP addresses are those which Spam Monitor never treats as spam.

  • Customizable white and black lists for manual configuration

A number of white and black lists can be configured to fine tune Spam Monitor's ability to identify spam email messages. Unlike white lists, black lists contain a list of email or IP addresses which Spam Monitor always treats as spam. These customizable lists include:

    • A local Friends List (white list) and Block List (black list) for both email and IP addresses
    • Realtime Blacklists allowing the selection of various black lists which contain IP addresses that are known sources of spam
    • Blacklisted Countries providing the ability to black-list countries whose servers send you more spam than legitimate email messages.

Minimum System Requirements

  • Intel Pentium processor (or equivalent)
  • 64 MB RAM
  • 11 MB of free hard disk space
