How do I uninstall ThreatFire?

Windows 2000

  1. Click StartSettingsControl Panel,
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs,
  3. Select ThreatFire,
  4. Click Remove and then Yes again to start removing,
  5. After uninstall completes, restart your computer.

Windows Vista/XP/2003

  1. Click StartControl Panel,
  2. Select Add or Remove Programs / Programs and Features in Vista,
  3. Select ThreatFire,
  4. Click Remove and then Yes again to start removing,
  5. After uninstall completes, restart your computer.

If ThreatFire did not uninstall properly.  (While it is uncommon, we have had occasional reports)

For these cases we've created a special cleaning utility that will completely wipe out all traces of the ThreatFire program from your system.

If ThreatFire continues to show up in your Windows Security Center

Perform the following steps to clear your system repository:

  1. Click Start > Run > and type 'services.msc',
  2. Find 'Windows Management Instrumentation' Service and Stop it,
  3. Then go to the folder location C:\Windows\System32\wbem and delete the 'Repository' folder,
  4. Restart your computer.
