Scan Settings

To access the Scan Settings screen, click on Settings in the left navigation menu, and click Scan Settings listed under Malware Settings.


Play sounds: Selecting this option causes Spyware Doctor to play a sound if infections are found at the end of a scan. Default: Selected.


Scan Alternative Data Streams: Select this if you want Spyware Doctor to scan for alternative data streams. Default: Selected.



Scan for Rootkit hidden files : Select this if you want Spyware Doctor to scan and remove hidden files associated with complex threats and rootkits. Such threats are otherwise difficult to remove by conventional means since they may be hidden to the operating system. Default: Cleared.




Lower Scan priority to reduce CPU usage: Selecting this option may increase scan time but will ease CPU usage  when other applications are running at the same time. This may be useful for running background scan(s).




Show disclaimer when repairing: When this check box is selected, a disclaimer is shown each time you remove or quarantine malware infections. Default: Cleared.




Include 'Information Only' low-level infections in scan results : Select to include 'Information Only' low-level infections (also known as Potentially Unwanted Applications) in scan results. Default: Selected.





Quarantine infections before removal : When you select this, checked items on the Scan Results screen are placed into the Quarantine List upon clicking the Fix and Continue button. Default: Selected.





Create Restore Point before removal : When you select this, before items are removed, a Windows Restore Point is created. Default: Cleared.
