Spyware Doctor 4.0 incorporates a number of enhancements:
A new OnGuard real-time protection tool, IM Guard, protects users of Instant Messaging applications such as MSN Messenger from access to any potentially malicious URLs received. Such URLs can lead to phishing sites or sites which attempt to exploit your web browser. IM Guard currently supports MSN and Windows messenger, with coverage of other instant messengers to be expanded in future versions.
SD V4.0 further builds on identifying and closing the gaps created by the subtle changes in the way that spyware threats attempt to infiltrate a users PC, particularly during a computer’s startup process. This includes the addition of new driver and service protection technology, which incorporates additional intelligence designed to identify malicious files early; thereby pre-empting the efforts of hackers to gain low-level access to the operating system.
Spyware Doctor has also extended its own defenses to further protect itself from malicious software that attempt to terminate and manipulate well known anti-spyware applications. With these new defenses, Spyware Doctor prevents such threats from compromising its anti-spyware effectiveness and therefore maintaining the security-level of the PC.
Spyware Doctor is the only anti-spyware in the industry to provide the option to create a Windows System Restore point prior to removal of detected infections. The introduction of this feature creates a reliable safeguard for restoration of a users system in the rare event that the removal of a difficult threat results in system start-up problems.
