Process Guard provides real-time protection against malicious programs by preventing them from running before they have a chance to damage or compromise your computer. This tool is capable of detecting malicious processes using a combination of mostly signature-dependent and some behavioral detection methods.

Summary tab:

• Process Guard is now - click ON / OFF to toggle between switching the Process Guard tool off or on, respectively.

• Detect hidden processes - click ON / OFF to toggle between switching the malicious hidden process detection feature of Process Guard either off or on, respectively. This option identifies hidden processes using behavioral detection methods. Although this approach can identify malicious hidden processes sooner than signature-based methods, it could also lead to false positive detections. These can be avoided by adding the desired application to the Always allow the following applications list (below), or disabling this option.

• Processes blocked - this field displays the number of malicious processes that were blocked during the current Spyware Doctor session. This number is reset to 0 when Spyware Doctor is closed.

• Display notification -  click the underlined text to display Every time / Once per process, which sets Process Guard pop-up notifications to display with every detection, or once per individual process, respectively.

• Always allow the following applications - this box displays a list of applications which Process Guard is set to ignore. To add such an application, click Add Application. In the resulting Add Application dialog box, browse for the program file to be ignored by Process Guard, select it and click the Open button to add it to the list. To remove an application, select it from this box and click Remove Application.

Results tab:

• Results - displays a cumulative list of processes that Process Guard has detected and blocked during the current session. For each detection, information is also displayed about the name of the process involved and the time when it was blocked. The results list is cleared when Spyware Doctor is closed.

• Clear results - clears the entire contents of the Results list.
