Popup Blocker is designed to stop annoying popup windows appearing as you browse the Internet. Such popups may contain adware and other unsolicited advertising materials.

Summary tab:

• Popup blocking is now - click ON / OFF to toggle between switching the popup blocker tool off or on, respectively.

• Popup windows blocked - this field displays the cumulative number of popup windows that were blocked by Spyware Doctor's Popup Blocker tool. Clicking this number displays the Popup Log.

• Enable Popup Blocker for the following browsers - displays a list of browsers currently installed on the operating system which Popup Blocker supports. Selecting or clearing the check box of a listed browser respectively enables or disables popup blocking for that browser. Currently, Popup Blocker only supports Internet Explorer. Other browsers may be planned for future releases, depending on demand.

• Click View Popup Log to display the Popup Log page (below).

• Click Change Popup Settings to display the Popup Settings tab.

Popup Settings tab:

• Click View Popup Log of this session to display the Popup Log page (below).

• Action to take when a popup window has been blocked - select from Show alert window, Play sound or Do nothing, to choose the appropriate level of notification provided when Popup Blocker blocks a popup window. If Do nothing is selected, Popup Blocker provides no indication when a popup is blocked.

• Alert once per page - select this option to display only the first notification that a popup is blocked from a specific web address or domain.

• Whitelisted domains - displays a list of web addresses or domains from which popup windows are not blocked. To add a domain to the list, click Add Domain, type the name of the resulting dialog box and click OK to add the new domain to the list. To remove a domain from the list, first select it from the list and click Remove Domain.

Popup Log page:

This page displays a cumulative list of popups that were blocked by Popup Blocker. For each blocked popup, information about the web address from which the popup was blocked and time of block is displayed. The Popup Log page is cleared when Spyware Doctor is closed. The popup log page is viewed by clicking the appropriate options on the Summary or Popup Settings tabs.

Note: To temporarily disable Popup Blocker for a specific popup, hold the [CTRL] key down while clicking on the URL that generates the popup.
