Network Guard provides real-time protection against malicious changes to your network settings, which can include unsolicited changes to your Windows Hosts file, Windows Messenger service, as well as providing Layered Service Provider (LSP) and Domain Name Server (DNS) protection.

Summary tab:

• Hosts file protection - click ON / OFF to toggle between switching real-time protection of the Windows Hosts file from malicious changes off or on, respectively.

• LSP protection - click ON / OFF to toggle between switching real-time protection of the Layered Service Provider from malicious changes off or on, respectively.

• Restrict Messenger Service - click ON / OFF to toggle between switching real-time protection of the Windows Messenger service off or on, respectively.

• DNS protection - click ON / OFF to toggle between switching real-time protection of the Domain Name Server off or on, respectively.

Clicking Check now next to any of the above network setting items conducts an immediate check of that item for any malicious changes.

Results tab:

• Results - displays a cumulative list of changes that Network Guard has detected and blocked during the current session. For each detection, information is also displayed about the name of the process involved and the time when the attempted change was blocked. The results list is cleared when Spyware Doctor is closed.

• Clear results - clears the entire contents of the Results list.
