Indicates headings for descriptive subsections or procedures within this help. Bolded text also indicates visual clues on the screen, for example, descriptions of screen headings or buttons.

Consecutive steps

Consecutive steps, which need to be done in sequence (for example, navigating through a cascading menu) are indicated by arrows (->), which connect each step. Alternative names for a step are separated by a slash (/) character.

For example, to open up Spyware Doctor from the Start menu, click on the Start menu button, move up to the All Programs (or Programs) menu item.  In the resulting cascading menu, select the Spyware Doctor folder and in the subsequent cascading menu, select the Spyware Doctor item itself.

This is easily represented by the following shorthand convention:
