This settings category allows you to customize a range of general Spyware Doctor settings including scanning and malware detection behavior, infection quarantine and removal, pop-up alert notifications and language options.

The following describes Spyware Doctor's General Settings:

• Quarantine infections before removal - If this check box is selected, checked items on the Scan Results screen are placed into the Quarantine List upon clicking the Fix and Continue button. You may be able to restore these items at a later point in time through the Quarantine List. If the check box is cleared, checked items on the infections list screen are removed from your system upon clicking the Fix and Continue button. Note: this option is selected by default.

• Delete quarantined infections after restoring - If this check box is selected, when files or items from the Quarantine List are restored, they are removed from the Quarantine List. Note: this option is selected by default.

• Play sound on scan end when infections are found - It is recommended that you keep this check box selected if you run a scan on startup. Selecting this option causes Spyware Doctor to play a sound if infections are found at the end of a scan. Since a Full System Scan can take a while to complete, you can switch to other tasks while the scan is in progress and switch back to Spyware Doctor when you hear the sound. Note: this option is selected by default.

• Show disclaimer when repairing - When this check box is selected, a disclaimer shows each time you remove or quarantine malware infections. Note: this option is selected by default.

• OnGuard tools can display popup alert window - If this check box is selected, OnGuard activities are displayed as pop-up notifications above the Windows Systray. Note: This option is selected by default. To stop receiving these pop-up notifications, please clear this check box. This option is also cleared by clicking or selecting the check box next to Hide alerts, which appears on any pop-up notification.

• Include 'Information Only' low-level infections in scan results - If this check box is selected, infections with an infection risk level of 'Info & PUAs' will appear on the infections list screen. If this check box is cleared, 'Info & PUAs' level infections will not appear on the infections list screen. Note: this option is cleared by default.

• Scan button action - Allows you to select the default action of the Scan Computer Now button on the Main Status screen.

• Select Language - Select the interface language for the program. The language is set to English by default.

When you have made your selections, click the Apply... button to save them. The Apply... button becomes inactive, indicating that your selections have been saved. Note that Apply... remains inactive until you alter settings on this page.
