Cookie Guard provides real-time protection against potentially malicious cookies that can track your Internet browsing habits for the benefit of third parties. Such cookies may be used to provide information for the purposes of targeted advertising. Cookie Guard checks for these cookies which may accumulate by browsing the Internet, and removes them from your web browser.

Cookie Guard supports the following Internet browsing applications: Internet Explorer, Mozilla/Netscape browsers, Firefox and Opera.

Summary tab:

• Cookie Guard is now - click to display ON / OFF, which toggles between switching the Cookie Guard tool on or off.

• Last scan time - this field displays the time when the last cookie scan was conducted. This field is updated whenever a manual,  real-time or periodic cookie check is conducted.

• Cookies removed during last scan - indicates the number of cookies that were removed in the last scan. If no cookies were removed, this field indicates 0.

• Click Check for malicious cookies to conduct a manual check for potentially malicious cookies.

• Click Manage allowed domains to display the Domain Whitelist, where you can add or remove domain addresses which may issue cookies that you want Spyware Doctor to ignore.

Results tab:

• Results - displays a list of cookies that Spyware Doctor detected as potentially malicious. Detections are displayed according to the Internet browser used, the domain or web address where the cookie originated, and the time and date when the detection occurred.

• Click Add selected cookies to Domain Whitelist to add the selected domain addresses of cookies in the results list (above) to the Domain Whitelist.

• Click Clear Log to clear all detected cookies in the results list.

Right-clicking in the results list diplays an optional menu with the following items:

• Add selected cookies to Domain Whitelist - this is the same as the function described above.

• Back to Summary page - displays the Summary tab.

• Various functions for selecting detected cookies in the results list.

Settings tab:

• Use real-time protection - select this option to allow Cookie Guard to detect potentially malicious cookies as you browse the Internet.

• Check cookies every - select this option to make Cookie Guard detect potentially malicious cookies periodically. Select the time period between each cookie check. Note: This option can allow smoother Internet browsing if you are visiting many web sites that contain potentially malicious cookies.

• Set action for installed browsers - select the check boxes next to the Internet browser applications which you want Cookie Guard to monitor for potentially malicious cookies.
