Spyware Doctor 6.0.1 - What's New?

• Better protection, better scanner, less impact

  Our focus for Spyware Doctor mid-cycle update was to provide enhancements in protection, detection and scanning.

  This has been achieved through the introduction of next generation sliding signatures*, specifically designed to better cater for the significant numbers of threat variants in the wild. PC Tools' next-gen sliding signatures have also delivered performance improvements to scan time and system impact with a further reduced memory footprint and overall system impact during scanning¹. This means that you can continue using your computer while Spyware Doctor scans for threats silently in the background.

  All these updates mean that Spyware Doctor has an increased ability to provide you with better protection against the latest threat outbreaks.

  *Sliding signatures are a PC Tools technology with the ability to detect threats known to frequently modify or morph. They are designed to find the common patterns within these types of deceptive morphing threats and promptly alert Spyware Doctor.

• Password protection to safeguard from exposure

  Password Protection offers advanced customization to allow you to safeguard against unauthorized parties (users or malware) attempting to change key security settings, exposing your computer and leaving it vulnerable to attack. In particular you now have the ability to password protect changes to the program settings, shutdown and the real-time protection module, IntelliGuard.

  By enabling password protection you have complete control over your installation of Spyware Doctor to ensure maximized protection for all users.

• No interruptions in full screen mode

  The Full Screen Detection mode feature is designed for avid gamers and movie/TV viewers to provide an uninterrupted user experience. This feature, when enabled, provides zero-interruptions resulting in minimal impact to your computer when in full screen mode, while maintaining an advanced level of security.

  Enabling Full Screen Detection Mode specifically maintains a stabilized frame rate and gives you control to disable program alerts and other actions. In particular Smart Updates are disabled, scanning is re-scheduled to occur at a later time and the Firewall is set to silent with no alerts.

• Enhanced user experience

  The user experience has been streamlined to reduce the amount of user interaction required with implementation of the following features:

  • Reduced reboots & simplified Smart Update

    The automatic Smart Update feature in Spyware Doctor now requires minimal reboots for product updates and upgrades. For those who wish to manually update, this feature is now simplified to a "2-click" process.

  • Quick right-click scanning

    Integration with the Windows File Explorer allows you to save time and alleviates the need for regular full system scanning. You can now easily and quickly scan individual files, folders or drives through right-clicking and selecting 'Scan with Spyware Doctor' from the contextual menu.
