How do I block pop-ups?

Spyware Doctor will eliminate adware or spyware generated pop-ups. Advertising pop-ups, ie. directly as a result from sites you are visiting, can be stopped by activating Spyware Doctor's built in Popup Blocker. Certain sites such as movie and sports sites, business sites and shopping sites are traditionally very heavy with pop up advertising.

Please follow the instructions below to activate the Popup Blocker:

1. Open Spyware Doctor
2. Click on IntelliGuard / IntelliGuard from the menu on the left side
3. Make sure IntelliGuard / IntelliGuard is activated
4. Click on 'Popup Blocker'
5. Please make sure the setting for 'Popup blocking is now: ON'
   

Please Note: Popup Blocker is only available for Spyware Doctor 4.1. As most Internet Browser's now include their own Popup blockers, it is not required in Spyware Doctor, however be please assured that Spyware Doctor will still remove threats that generate malicious Popups.

Popup Blocker is only designed to work with Internet Explorer.

Popup Blocker is ineffective on browsers other than Internet Explorer.

Popup Blocker is designed to stop only the most common types of Advertising Popups.

Some advertising popups will not be blocked as the popup may be using the same type of code that is used for genuine non-advertising popups such as online banking logins etc.

Are you experiencing popups on all websites or are the popups appearing on only certain websites?

If the popups are appearing on all websites, you may have an adware program or toolbar installed. If the popups appear only on certain sites, it is most likely that it is a popup that our popup blocker is not designed to block.
