Retail version - installing & activating

This information applies to versions of Registry Mechanic purchased from a retail outlet.


Installing

To install Registry Mechanic onto your PC:

  1. Insert the cd in your cd drive. Locate and double-click on the Registry Mechanic installation file ("rminstall.exe") to initialize the Setup Wizard.
  2. License Agreement - The Registry Mechanic End User License Agreement (EULA) is displayed. You will need to accept this agreement before proceeding.
  3. Select Destination Location - Specify the location where Registry Mechanic will be installed on your PC.
  4. Select Additional Tasks - Additional settings include options to set Registry Mechanic to start up when Windows starts up, and to add shortcuts to your desktop and Quick Launch bar on the Windows Taskbar.
  5. Install other applications - At this point, the installer may ask you to install other applications such as the Google Toolbar. If you wish to install the application, click the Install radio button. Otherwise, click the Don't install radio button.
  6. Click the Finish button to exit the Setup Wizard.



Activating

To activate your purchased copy of Registry Mechanic:

Note: You  internet access to activate your purchased copy of Registry Mechanic.

  1. Open Registry Mechanic and click the Activate Now button in the left navigation menu of the Registry Mechanic screen to open the Activation screen.
  2. Enter your name, email address and activation code. The activation code is included with the product at the time of purchase. The name you enter on the activation Screen is the one used to register Registry Mechanic. Note: The activation Code must be typed exactly as it appears.
  3. Click the Activate Now button on the activation screen. Your installation of  Registry Mechanic is registered automatically and a license name and license code are generated. These details can be viewed on the About screen. An e-mail message confirming your license name and license code is sent to the email address you entered.
  4. In the unlikely event that your activation Code has already been used, or you receive an error message after entering it, please contact your supplier. Run Smart Update as soon as possible after activation to ensure that your installation is fully updated to the latest version.
