To repair problems in your Windows registry:

• Conduct a Full Scan or a Custom scan.
• On the scan results screen, make modifications to problems, as required. See scan results and modifying problems.
• Click the Repair button on the scan results screen.

Registry Mechanic automatically creates a backup of the entries it changes in the Windows registry when the repair function is executed. These backups allow you to undo any of these changes, and can be accessed through the Restore registry backup screen. Note: This is not the same as creating a System Restore Point on Windows XP systems. If you have selected the "Create a System Restore Point before repair (XP)" option on the General options screen, Windows also creates a System Restore Point before implementing any changes to the registry.
