When you open Registry Mechanic, you are taken to the Main Status & Summary screen. You can access this screen from anywhere within Registry Mechanic by clicking the Status button in the left navigation menu.

This screen provides links to the most frequently used tasks, information on the version of Registry Mechanic you are running, and the number of problems found in the last scan.

• Scan Your Registry – runs an in-depth scan of your Windows registry.

• Compact Registry – takes you to Registry Compacting screen which guides you through the compacting procedure.

• Optimize Your Computer - takes you to the System Optimizer screens from where you can:

• apply a set of tweaks and patches directly into the Windows registry that are designed to improve system performance.
• launch the Windows Disk Defragmenter interface.
• actively monitor the system usage, processes, CPU/MEM and disk space.

Status and Summary

This section tells you:

• The version of PC Tools Registry Mechanic you are running. If you are running a free version, click the link to purchase or register online.

• The number of problems found on the last scan.

The left navigation panel is common across all screens and contains links to:

• Status - takes you to the Main Status and Summary Screen.
• Start Scan - starts a Full Scan of the Windows registry for problems.
• Restore - alows you to restore a registry backup.
• Settings - allows you configure a wide range of settings for Registry Mechanic.
• Monitor - exits active mode and goes into 'monitor' mode.
• About - opens the About screen, which displays the product version and registration status. Note: Prior to registration, this button displays Register Now or Activate Now, which opens the Registration screen when clicked.
