A Custom Scan allows you to select the sections of the registry you wish to include in the scan.

To run a Custom Scan,

• Click the Settings link in the left navigation menu and then select Custom Scan.

• Select the checkboxes of the sections of the registry to include in the scan. See Registry Sections.

• Click Save to save your settings for subsequent scans.

• Click Start Scan.

Note that a Custom Scan can only be run from this screen.

Scanning your system

As Registry Mechanic scans your system, colored bars increment from left to right indicating how far the scan has progressed. The upper bar indicates the overall scan progress, while the lower bar indicates the progress of the current section being scanned.

To stop the scan at any time, click the Stop button.

When Registry Mechanic has finished scanning your system, the scan results screen is displayed. Here, you can view the individual problems detected by the scan and modify the actions you require before you begin repairing problems.
