Spyware Doctor continues its award-winning prescription for online protection
Spyware Doctor's latest version 3.5 receives fourth award from PC Magazine
Sydney, March 3, 2006 - PC Tools announced today that its anti-spyware product Spyware Doctor has received its fourth prestigious award from PC Magazine for its latest version, 3.5.
The publication recently put Spyware Doctor 3.5 to the test and once again revealed it to be worthy of the Editors' Choice Award - the third time the product has won such acclaim. Spyware Doctor has also been chosen for PC Magazine's "Best of The Year" award in the anti-spyware category.
"This is the best version yet...PC Tools has cranked up Spyware Doctor's power in several areas," said Neil Rubenking, lead analyst for PC Magazine.
Spyware Doctor 3.5 was subjected to PC Magazine's usual "torture tests" among nine recently-updated anti-spyware applications and demonstrated its "impressive performance" with a number of new enhancements, including the Process Guard module which was noted for "knocking out malware installation instantly."
PC Magazine also pointed to Spyware Doctor 3.5's new Kernel Delete technology which provides "new ways to remove rootkits and other complex, self-defending malware." Additionally, Spyware Doctor's real-time capability OnGuard; was highlighted as a key component which set it apart from its competition. PC Magazine enthusiastically lauded OnGuard's modular construction that, "unlike many anti-spyware products, only blocks activity associated with programs that it can identify as malware, so you won't suffer a warning every time an innocuous program sets itself to launch at startup - hooray!"
"Spyware Doctor's trio of awards from PC Magazine gives our customers the peace of mind that they are using a best-of-breed product to provide protection against the growing and increasingly more dangerous threats online," said Simon Clausen, CEO of PC Tools.
Spyware Doctor is available at major retail outlets including Staples, Amazon.com and CompUSA, and can also be downloaded online at www.pctools.com for purchase at $29.95 per computer install, including free support, software upgrades and smart updates for a year.
