Troubleshoot Product Registration

If you are experiencing trouble Registering your PC Tools product we recommend trying the steps below to try to solve the problem.  You may be experiencing symptoms such as the product saying that your License Code is invalid or that the Name is invalid.


a)   Open your software from the Windows “Programs” menu or double click the icon for your program in the tray (the lower right corner of your desktop/screen). 

b)   Once the software is open, click on the “Help” button (in the upper right corner of the program’s main window)

c)   Click “about” then “register”

d)   A box will appear where you enter your License Name and License Code exactly as they appear on your confirmation email.

NOTE: The License code details are case sensitive, there are no letter “O’s” in the License code only zeros.

e)   Click “Register” at the bottom of the Registration Window and you will see a message that indicates the software is now successfully registered - click “OK”.


Still having trouble entering your License Name and License Code details?

The next step is to ensure that the details entered are exactly as you see them on your confirmation email. The easiest way to achieve this is to copy and paste the information in to the relevant fields.  See below for details on how to do this:

**NOTE: The License code details are case sensitive, there are no letter “O’s” in the Licence code only zeros.**


How to copy and paste License Code details:

a)     Locate your confirmation email. Click and drag the mouse across the Licence Code details in your confirmation email highlighting the code.

b)     Hold down the ’Ctrl’ key and press the ’C’ key to copy the text, then release both keys.

c)     Move to the relevant location on your PC Tools product registration and hold down the ’Ctrl’ key again. Press the ’V’ key to paste the text, then release both keys.

To speed up your service request, we recommend taking a screenshot of your product’s main window and registration window showing the license details as you have entered them (please ensure the license details are not obscured by the ’incorrect license’ error message).


To Send a Screenshot:

For XP Users:


a)   While the error message is displayed, press the print screen key (commonly printed as ’PrtScn’ - located at the top right hand corner of most keyboards).

b)   Click on ’Start’ menu then click on ’Run’ and type in ’pbrush’ then click on ’OK’ button.

c)   Microsoft Paint will open, click on ’Edit’ menu along the top of the window and select ’Paste’. You should see the error message appear, replacing the white background in Paint.

d)   Click on ’File’ menu then ’Save As’, use the drop down box in ’Save as Type’ to select JPEG File.

e)   Select a location and enter a name for the file and click on ’Save’.

f)    Locate the JPEG file and send it to us by attaching it to your email.


For Windows Vista or Windows 7  Users:


The best way and the easiest to take a screenshot, is to use the Snipping tool that comes free with windows.

a)   While the error message is displayed, Open Snipping Tool by clicking the Start button of Windows that is on the bottom left side of your desktop. In the search box, type Snipping Tool, and then, in the list of results, click Snipping Tool.

b)   Click the arrow next to the New button, select Free-form Snip, Rectangular Snip, Window Snip, or Full-screen Snip from the list, and then select the area of your screen that you want to capture.

c)   Save the taken image.
