Protection Software: I am getting a blue Screen after installing PC Tools protection software

Symptoms:


A Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) will appear when a critical system error occurs that causes Windows to stop running altogether.

Causes:

BSODs are usually caused by critical hardware or driver errors.


Products Affected:

PC Tools Internet Security / Spyware Doctor with AntiVirus / Spyware Doctor



Troubleshooting:

Step 1: update to the Latest version

Make sure that you are running the latest version of your PC Tools product.
To check the latest version of your product, please click here.


If you are not running the latest version please uninstall and reinstall the product to see if the problem persists.


Step 2: Uninstall

1. Ensure that your application is completely shut down.

To completely shut down PC Tools Internet Security/Spyware Doctor  please right click on the program  in the notification area (next to the clock on the Windows taskbar) and select Shutdown from the menu that appears. Please also close any instances of Internet Explorer or other browsers.

2.  Uninstall PC Tools Internet Security/Spyware Doctor 


<
Vista/Windows 7>

1)    Click “Windows” Button
2)    Navigate to “Control Panel”
3)    Select “Programs and Features”
4)    Uninstall PC Tools Internet Security/Spyware Doctor 


<
Windows XP>

1)    Click “Start”
2)    Select “Control Panel”
3)    Select “Add/Remove Programs’”
4)    Uninstall PC Tools Internet Security/Spyware Doctor 


**IMPORTANT** Make sure that the ""PC Tools Security"" folder ( which by default would be under "Local Disk (C:)" > "Program Files" > "PC Tools"  ) no longer exists. If the ""PC Tools Security"" folder still exists, please delete the folder.

Step 3: Install

1. Download the program install file from the relevant product link


2. Run the downloaded file and follow prompts to finish installing the program.
3. Restart your computer if prompted.
