Watch out for pharma scam, experts warn
Internet users have been warned to watch out for a new pharmacy spam that is exploiting iTunes.
Spammed messages with Valentine's Day-themed subject lines purporting to be an invoice from iTunes have been spotted and internet users are being warned not to respond to the messages.
The individuals behind the spammed messages are out to exploit the huge traffic volumes and number of people using iTunes, according to Trend Micro, which says they link to pharmaceutical websites.
According to Graham Cluley of Sophos, which has also discovered the messages, "you would be mad to buy drugs online".
He said: "People have died as a result of buying medications from dodgy companies online, so clicking on links in unsolicited emails is not just potentially putting your computer in danger, it could also be the path to putting your health at risk too."
Internet users have also been advised to watch out for phishing scams linked to Valentine's Day.
