'Vital' to regularly scan machine for spyware
It is crucial for PC users protect their machines by regularly scanning for and removing spyware and adware, a publication has commented.
News resource the American Chronicle noted that some websites and downloads can increase the risk of infection by such programs, meaning a user's online behaviour can be monitored without their permission.
In some instances, spyware can detect a PC user's credit card information and track them online, it continued, adding that such programs can detect passwords and make problematic changes to the computer's system, causing it to crash.
"Using software for scanning and removing spyware is the most effective way of protecting your PC and your personal information," the news agency concluded.
Recently, research conducted by PC Tools revealed that Russia has overtaken both the US and China as the world's biggest exporter of spyware and viruses.
It is though that almost 30 per cent of such malware originates in the country.
