'Vital' to protect PC
It is vital that computer users take steps to protect their machines from viruses, Australians have been warned.
Dream Computers has commented that many people still fail to understand the threat posed by malware and do not fully comprehend the online threatviruses pose.
"There are a plethora of computer viruses laying in wait all over the internet and - at times - in software programs added onto a computer unit via a [disk] or CD," the company warned.
Such security risks make it vital that users invest in anti-virus software, Dream Computers continued.
Protecting a PC from such online threats is a solid investment, it added.
The Australian government's Stay Smart Online campaign recommends people protect their machines from malware such as viruses and spyware.
It suggests that having spent a "considerable sum" on a computer, it makes sense to protect it fully.
The resource notes that security breaches can result from harmful emails, viruses and hackers.
