Venture capitalist hit by Twitter malware
Venture Capitalist Guy Kawasaki has become a victim of a malware attack on Twitter.
The financial expert has more than 139,000 followers on his automated Twitter feed, but some of his fans noticed something was not right when they saw a non-venture capitalist message sent from his account earlier this week.
The update advertised a sexy video of Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester and had a link to an external website.
Visitors clicking the link to view the non-existent video were asked to download a codec which contained a well-known Trojan called OSX/Jahlav-C, which is used to infect Mac computers.
Following the link would be a very bad idea because it will lead you to a malicious Web site designed to infect both Macs and PCs with a DNS-changing Trojan, which at the time of writing has low-to non-existent detection rates by security vendors," Rik Ferguson of Trend Micro said.
A range of new malware aimed at Mac computers has recently been uncovered including a variation on the Tored-Farm worm.
