Valentine's Day 'prompts raft of email viruses'
Internet users have been warned about an influx of online viruses in the build-up to Valentine's Day this year.
PC World Australia said that there are a number of love-themed messages circulating the net, and issued advice to consumers not to presume they have a secret admirer.
According to the site, there is a storm worm trying to take advantage of love-struck web-surfers, displaying messages such as "I would dream".
Commenting on email viruses and the effect they can have on IT equipment, chief executive officer of PC Tools Simon Clausen said that storm Trojan gets "everywhere".
"The storm worm - once it infects a pc - will go through every file to find email addresses," Mr Clausen remarked.
"When it gets these addresses, it will send itself out to those people using these emails."
Last year, web security group Sophos issued a warning about a similar email virus. Apparently, the worm spread across the internet , displaying messages such as "A Valentine Love Song", "Be My Valentine" and "Fly Away Valentine".
