US uni 'hit by phishers'
An American university has warned its students of the dangers of phishing emails, following a fraudulent campaign targeting its students.
The University of Arizona has alerted students to a scam being circulated to their email accounts which calls upon the recipient to offer up sensitive information, local newspaper the Wildcat Online notes.
Unfortunately, the scam has occurred at the same time as the organisation is seeking to persuade students to change their academic passwords, meaning that even some of those who are aware of the dangers of phishing are falling victim.
Kelley Bogart, the university's information security co-ordinator, told the publication: "Phishing is here, it's not going anywhere and we're trying our best to control it."
The United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team is currently collecting phishing email messages to help compile notes which will help citizens avoid falling victim.
It encourages people to email the fraudulent messages they receive to it for analysis.
