US should reduce its internet security threat share, expert says

A new Security Threat Report has singled out US websites' impact on internet security by stating that more malware is hosted on the website than any other country.
More spam is also relayed from US computers than any other country and the best example comes from a 75 per cent drop in spam that came after a US internet spam company was shut down, according to Sophos.
The firm's senior technology consultant Graham Cluley says that the US should make an effort to reduce its negative impact on the internet security map next year.
"Not only is the USA relaying the most spam because too many of its computers have been compromised and are under the control of hackers, but it's also carrying the most malicious web pages," he said.
"American computers, whether knowingly or not, are making a disturbingly large contribution to the problems of viruses and spam affecting all of us today."
According to Sophos, the US hosts the most malware on the internet with 37 per cent of the market share.
