Twitter systems breached again
Online security issues keep plaguing micro-blogging site Twitter as wave after wave of assaults is directed against the social networking site by hackers.
It has now emerged that the site's internet security defences were breached by a hacker this week, who then went on to post screen shots of his exploits on a French forum.
The security compromise has been confirmed by Twitter chief executive officer Biz Stone, who said in a blog post that "initial security reviews and investigations indicate that no account information was altered or removed in any way".
"However, we discovered that ten individual accounts were viewed during this unauthorised access," added the post, which said some of the data included email addresses.
He went on to state that the intruder did not gain access to password information or view any personal direct messages.
A few weeks back a hacker managed to gain administrative rights after compromising the account of a regular Twitter user, who happened to be an employee of the company.
