Twitter subjected to yet another phishing attack
Several Twitter members have been roped into phishing attacks against other people in the micro-blogging site after the internet security of their accounts was compromised.
Two waves of attacks were directed against the site, with the first being to compromise accounts by urging members to follow links and have a look at a video, according to an online security expert at Trend Micro.
After ambushing their victims yesterday (May 22nd), the crooks launched the second phase of their campaign and Trend Micro's security researcher Rik Ferguson reported "seeing waves of new attacks using the previously compromised accounts".
He went on to warn internet users to "always check the URL in the address bar before entering your credentials for any online service" and to avoid clicking on links from friends if not sure where they will redirect to.
Twitter has been subjected to such attacks over the last few weeks, which underscores the need for proper internet security software and a cautious approach when online.
