Travellers to the Olympics urged to keep prying eyes away
As the Beijing Olympic Games gear for take off on August 8th, individuals planning to attend the fete are being warned to protect their data from unauthorised eyes, reports internetnews.com.
An expert has warned business people, journalists and even individuals going for the games as a holiday to ensure their appliances are clean or contain no sensitive data at all.
The warning comes in the wake of last minute revelations by Chinese authorities to the IOC that the media covering the event will not be free from internet restrictions the country has.
Phil Dunkelberger, chief executive of security software firm PGP Corp, said: "A lot of places in the world, including China, don't have the same view of personal space and privacy that we do in the United States.
"You've got to suspect that every place you're doing work is being monitored and being watched."
He is now urging travellers to ensure they have proper internet protection including encryption software.
This will not only keep hawk eyed authorities away but also prevent cyber crooks from causing any online threats.
