Tap-proof password software developed
Online security specialists have created new technology that may result in online banking becoming completely safe in the near future, it has emerged.
A password dialog capable of "perfectly" resisting attacks by trojan horses and computer viruses has been developed by leading internet telephony manufacturer Global IP Telecommunications and internet security specialist PMC Ciphers.
According to the makers of the software-based program, online threats can be prevented even while entering passwords on computers that are infected with viruses and malicious code.
"This development can make input of PIN codes and Transaction Numbers for online banking completely safe in the near future," said C.B. Roellgen, creator of the novel password dialog and chief technology officer of PMC Ciphers.
"Only data encryption software that is equipped with this development can provide perfect privacy. It is absolutely impossible for malicious software of any kind to spy out password information and to remain undetected."
The development comes in the wake of calls by data security specialist BeCrypt for legal requirements to be put in place for organisations handling public information.
