Systems 'under constant attack'
IT systems across the world are increasingly coming under attack, it has been suggested.
According to a report in ZDNet, criminals are using ever more sophisticated, highly-evolved and blended malware in order to hack into corporate and customer information.
It goes on to say that, in the interests of online security, "additional layers of protection at the perimeter are essential".
Such protection, it states, helps to combat the "sheer volume" of increasing threats and to prevent networks from being "clogged up" by spam.
These threats pose grave dangers to people in the UK, shadow home secretary David Davis recently asserted.
He described cybercrime as a "serious threat to individuals, business and government".
Mr Davis went on to say that a Conservative government would take action to protect the UK's future security, as well as the economic and personal interests of the country.
He remarked that the time to act over the issue of internet security "is now".
