Spyware detector 'vital for online safety'
In order to detect all possible threats to a PC, it is vital to install software which hunts out more than just computer viruses, an expert has commented.
Arvind Singh, writing for the LA Chronicle, warned US citizens to ensure their computer security programs protect against spyware, adware and threats such as Trojans in addition to viruses.
He explained that spyware creates a different threat to viruses, often logging the user's computer activity and even stealing bank account details and credit card numbers.
"The confidential information is mostly used by the hackers and crackers for criminal activities that can put you in much trouble. To protect yourself you need spyware remover tools capable of spyware detection," he urged.
USA government-funded resource OnGuardOnline.com explains that clues which show a computer may have a spyware problem include relentless pop-ups, random error messages and slow performance - particularly when opening programs or saving files.
