Soulja Boy put on the receiving end by cyber crooks
US rapper Soulja Boy was recently on the receiving end of cyber crooks after his MySpace profile was compromised and his other online accountants exposed to online threats, reports say.
Cyber crooks reportedly hijacked the rapper's account in a ransomware attack and demanded money in exchange of getting his profile back, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.
However, the rapper refused to budge and the hackers retaliated by defacing his MySpace profile and publishing the passwords for his email and YouTube accounts on the internet.
According to the newspaper, celebrity profiles on social networking websites are popular targets of cyber crooks aiming to increase their notoriety or expose private photos and messages.
Recent victims include Justin Timberlake, Hilary Duff and Tila Tequila as well as Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys.
Internet users were recently warned by the Australian government of the dangers posed by putting information on social networking sites, which could lead to ID theft and other online security issues.
