Software 'a priority' for malware-infected systems
Owners of computers infected with malware should make it a priority to obtain software which can defend against such attacks, it has been asserted.
The suggestion comes from Kellep Charles, adjunct professor of computer science at academic institution Capitol College in Laurel, Maryland.
Such systems may be analysed and repaired using suitable software, he notes, preventing malware from causing any damage or irregular activity.
He writes on his personal blog: "I personally feel these compromised systems are lethal weapons that can allow hackers to attack our infrastructure, other businesses or committee crimes.
"Better software and usability measures need to be a priority."
Mr Charles' assertions follow a number of infections he has witnessed recently, including four which caused machines to become prohibitively slow to use.
However, a recent post on the Free AdwareSpyware Removal blog warned against installing security software if prompted to do so unexpectedly.
The resource explained that such programs may themselves be malware and can "cause havoc and great damage" if executed.
