Small businesses should take measures to avoid ID theft
Business owners have been advised to put in place relevant measures to avoid being victims of ID theft, it has emerged.
Todd Davis, CEO of security firm LifeLock has made the call and given tips geared towards helping consumers and business owners better understand ID theft and how to avoid the pitfalls, reports PC World.
According to the expert, one of the core things small businesses should concentrate on is protecting their own personal data as well as that of its top executives.
"The biggest challenge for business owners is that many times, they build their company's credit on the back of their own," says Davis.
"It's critical that they keep that good credit, and if they become a victim of identity theft personally, it can have a negative impact.
"In some cases, it can wipe out both the personal credit and the business and then you're really in a catastrophic state."
Among the suggestions put forward are encrypting wireless networks and not only boosting online security but also putting in place proper physical security measures.
