Security solution for USB flash drives launched
USB flash drives and other portable and mobile media have been some of the routes through which malware and other online threats have been breaching network security but this may be a thing of the past, thanks to IronKey.
The firm, which specialises in the development of secure flash drives has announced a comprehensive initiative to prevent malicious software from penetrating networks through flash drives.
To counter the threats, the company has developed "intelligent", secure storage devices equipped with strong, two-factor authentication and on-board security co-processors.
"As security processor costs become more affordable, it is possible to embed increasingly sophisticated layers of protection inside portable devices to protect enterprise and government networks from media-borne malware and crimeware," says the organisation.
According to IronKey, "hardware support for anti-malware provides an unbeatable layer of protection for mobile devices to prevent malware from spreading onto enterprise networks".
More than 120 million USB flash drives are purchased every year.
