Security expert recommends two-part passwords
An internet security expert has recommended having a two-in-one password in order to make it more difficult for hackers to compromise internet users' accounts.
Members of social networking sites are particularly advised to adopt this strategy in light of increasing attacks from spammers and other cyber crooks who, once through defences on the site, could go ahead and hit the primary email accounts of victims.
To maintain complex passwords, users have now been advised by F-Secure to develop two-part security barriers and keep part of their passwords on a note in their wallets.
Consumers can then use this note, which can easily be replaced, should they change their log in details, to remember their variety of passwords.
F-Secure stated that it does not matter if the note in the wallet is misplaced or stolen because it would not make any sense without the second part, which is held in the memory of the user.
"And if you're phished on one site, such as Facebook, your other accounts aren't sharing the same password," stated the company.
Having this and proper, regularly updated internet security software can help consumers stay clear of online threats.
