RBS Group highlights importance of online security for banking customers
NatWest and the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has said internet users need to be informed about the online threats that can compromise their internet security and lead to ID theft and financial fraud.
It is vital for consumers and online banking customers in particular to learn how to protect themselves because cyber crooks keep on coming up with new and sophisticated methods to steal their financial data.
In light of these threats the organisation has provided free online security software from Trusteer for its customers, with over 500,000 customers now benefiting from it, NatWest and RBS announced.
Members of the bank are now being offered more protection with Rapport, which works alongside existing anti-virus software and firewalls to create an additional layer of protection when banking online.
"It also enhances the effectiveness of our existing card reader security," explained RBS Group e-crime prevention manager Gavin Coull.
The news comes in the wake of recent research by Money.co.uk that found that more than nine million people in the UK do not know how to spot phishing emails.
