Police site compromised by hacker
A police website in the UK has fallen foul of the hacking efforts of one individual, it has been reported today.
Last night, the public information source for Bedfordshire police became defaced by green symbols, as well as a prayer in Arabic, a cartoon man with a Tunisian flag and a message announcing "This site was hacked by Arfaoui Firas".
The hacker also posted a web address encouraging visitors to browse a games company's site.
A spokesperson for the police stated that operations had not been affected by the online threat, the Daily Express reports.
She reassured the public: "The website is hosted externally, away from all other police systems so no personal or confidential data could have been obtained."
On Wednesday evening the website remained unavailable.
The news serves to highlight the potential online threats posed to businesses and individuals by those hacking into websites and distributing malware.
In the United States, meanwhile, the Salt Lake Tribune reports how hackers have been altering grades on Snow Canyon High School's system, charging fellow students more than £12 for the service.
