Phishing attacks 'mean caution is needed'
PC users in India are being warned of the importance of caution when receiving unsolicited emails requesting information.
Online resource IT Voir has noted that the fraudsters often behind such emails - known as phishers - are seeking knowledge of users' credit card details, social security information, internet IDs and passwords.
The web resource suggested users never reply to emails from strangers in a hurry, particularly if they are soliciting financial information.
Furthermore, they should be wary of following links included within such messages as these will often divert the recipient to false websites which then capture their financial information, it added.
According to online IT resource BizTech2, India is such a rapidly growing economy that it relies hugely on the web.
However, the publication noted that the number of phishing attacks resulting from this is growing rapidly, with many cybercriminals turning to social networks in more ingenious attempts to steal information.
