Online security expert in innovative privacy programme
An online security company is in the process of developing a new privacy platform which it hopes will help boost online privacy through encryption, reports Softpedia.
The company, named Private Bay is looking into developing the encryption solutions, which it has named transparent end-to-end encryption for the internet (IPETEE).
Fredrick Neij the online security brain behind the project said: "I wanted to come up with something to make it harder for data retention. Even applications that don't support encryption will be encrypted where possible."
If successful, IPETEE would help protect the privacy of e-mail messages, telephone calls and internet traffic.
The programme works by encrypting data on a network level instead of an application level, and will work silently in the background by automatically encrypting all the data that leaves the computer.
Similarly, data coming into the computer will be decrypted, though some experts have expressed pessimism about the programme's implementation.
Mr Neij hopes IPETEE will be ready by January next year.
