Online crooks 'exploiting vulnerable systems'
There is no limit to the lengths online criminals will go to in order to exploit vulnerabilities, an expert has asserted.
Amitabh Singhal, former president of Internet Service Providers' Association of India (ISPAI), made his comments to the India Times.
He stated that online threats are no longer "fun crimes" but are hurting the economy and curbing business.
Furthermore, Mr Singhal called for steps to be taken by governments worldwide to reduce the threats of online crime.
"With increasing economic muscle power, economic security in the form of net terror will be a heightened factor and we just might be ill-prepared in the event of any such eventuality," he told the newspaper.
The ISPAI has urged recipients of spam messages not to open them but if they do, to avoid clicking on any link they may contain.
It warned that such emails could often contain viruses, adding that it is important that users have anti-virus software installed on their machines.
