Online bank users 'prioritise security'
Online bankers regard security as the most important feature of their experience, according to a new study.
Research by Gartner, which studied people in both the US and UK, highlighted that security was people's top priority, followed by a single sign in and the ability to deposit cheques online at home.
The study also revealed that many people use more than one online bank, highlighting the need for them to keep their details secure in order to avoid ID theft.
Some 41 per cent of users in the US and 48 per cent of users in the UK have more than one online bank account.
Researchers at the Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas have identified a new internet security threat to online bankers, the Clampi Trojan.
The Trojan works by seeking out data it can use to log on to 4,600 banking and other sites.
Experts have deemed it one of the most sophisticated Trojan criminal operations on the internet.
