OECD calls for centre on cybercrime
The threats posed by malware and other online security threats should be better understood by individuals and businesses alike, it has been claimed.
A new report from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) claims there should be a global partnership to tackle the threats caused by computer viruses, among other things.
According to Silicon Republic, one option for OECD member countries is to sign the Council of Europe's Convention on Cybercrime to create an international front to the issue.
Consumers may wish to ensure their own machine is protected against computer virus, trojan and malware threats by ensuring an up-to-date anti-virus program is installed.
Using home computers for tasks such as email and internet access can be a tool used by criminals to spread a particular virus, Agence France Presse claims the OECD report argues, adding that the threat to the internet economy posed by such malware could be serious.
