Obama moves to combat cyber crime
US presidential candidate Barack Obama has underlined the importance of dealing with internet security by unveiling his internet security strategy.
The Democratic Party presidential hopeful highlighted the importance of combating the vice with focus on tackling corporate espionage, shielding the country's internet infrastructure and establishing a national cyber security adviser.
"It's time to look ahead, at the dangers of today and tomorrow rather than those of yesterday," he said.
"It's time to update our national security strategy to stay ahead of the terrorists to see clearly the emerging threats of our young century, and to take action to make the American people more safe and secure."
According to Obama, the cyber-infrastructure must be considered a strategic asset due to the vital role it plays in the US economy as well as security and civil infrastructure.
Such a move, reports Softpedia, would not only make it difficult for hackers to operate but also help prevent data breaches and reduce online threats.
