New network of e-crime prosecutors established
A new international database of cyber crime prosecutors is being set up to try to reduce the amount of illegal activity carried out over the web, it has been reported.
According to ComputerWeekly.com, the UK government is helping to establish the network which aims to be an information portal on e-crime.
Named the Global Prosecutors' E-Crime Network, it will also be a place where those being targeted or who are at risk of being targeted can get advice.
UK attorney general Baroness Scotland told the website: "It is widely recognised that e-crime is the most rapidly expanding form of criminality and knows no borders.
"Prosecutors play a very significant role in combating e-crime, and their advice at an early stage of police investigation can be fundamental to success."
She added that high tech crime was an "ever changing" issue which was difficult to keep up to date with.
However, she said that the new network will serve to "speed up safe communication between specialists, enabling prosecutors to share best practice and training, and raise standards across continents".
