MPs warned of Trojan emails
MPs have been warned to be careful of emails they receive from the European Parliament following security concerns relating to Chinese hackers.
Politicians are being urged to be careful as hackers are sending spoof emails which look very similar to messages from the EU but in fact contain malware.
It is believed the emails upload a Trojan onto the recipient's PC.
Tory home affairs spokesman James Brokenshire told the Press Association that the security risk is yet more proof that the government is failing to address cybercrime.
He stated: "The government are playing catch-up and their failure to take this issue seriously puts us all at greater risk ... It gives the clear impression of a government with its head in the sand."
Recently, Conservative MP David Davis asserted that cybercrime poses a real threat to people, companies and the government.
He called for a new national police unit to be created solely to tackle the online threat of cybercrime.
