Mozilla issues security update
The online security of internet users using Mozilla's Firefox web browser to surf the internet has been boosted by an update, which has been released by the company.
Firefox 3.0.7 has been released to fix several vulnerabilities found in Firefox 3.0.6, according to Mozilla, which says the release comes equipped with five security fixes.
Among the vulnerabilities are URL spoofing using invisible control characters, an upgrade of PNG library to fix memory safety hazards and one to prevent XML data theft via RDFXMLDataSource and cross-domain redirect.
Solutions for Mozilla Firefox XUL linked clones double free vulnerabilities and a patch to fix crashes that can lead to memory corruption has also been issued.
The updates, some of which are categorised as critical, also contain patches for users who reported seeing their cookies appear as missing after a few days.
Browser security must, however, be complemented with proper internet security software, which can ward off online threats such as viruses and other malicious software.
