More powerful security solutions needed for web 2.0 sites
An internet security expert has recommended using new and more powerful online security products to ensure safe use of social media and the latest web 2.0 sites.
Behavioural solutions designed to deal with online threats are not enough, according to Websense technical director Mark Murtagh, who said "a solution that automatically analyses and secures web traffic in real-time" is what is needed.
He stated that such a security solution would make it possible for people to safely use the latest web 2.0 sites and tools, which "is clearly essential in today's sophisticated threat landscape".
According to Mr Murtagh, there are now powerful online security products that can analyse traffic in real-time, as well as "instantly categorise new sites and dynamic content, proactively discover security risks, and block dangerous malware".
His comments come in the wake of research from Dynamic Markets showing that 86 per cent of IT managers are feeling pressured about allowing more access to a greater number of web 2.0 sites and technologies.
