Millions of browsers 'exposed to malware'
Millions of users are being regularly offered links to websites which contain malware, an online resource has claimed.
The Virus Bulletin has highlighted the findings of a recent Google report which suggested more than three million websites contain malware and a further three million are considered "suspicious".
It stated that this means that every day millions of people browsing the web are being offered links to websites which will try to attack their machine.
Virus Bulletin conducted a poll among the visitors to its site and discovered 85 per cent feel search engines should be doing more to protect their users.
The information resource said that Google's findings confirm there is a "worrying" trend for genuine websites to be inadvertently serving up malware to visitors.
It urged users to protect themselves by using reputable security software and called upon web administrators to keep their websites clean and run up-to-date server software.
